Five signs an agency is a good fit for the show
We're picky about which agencies we feature. Before anyone signs on, our team runs an informal intake, a conversation to figure out whether this is a story worth spending months inside. A few signals come up again and again.
1. The owner is the whole operation
When every quote, every renewal, and every carrier relationship runs through one person, growth has a hard ceiling, and that tension makes for a story worth watching.
2. The tech stack is three tools held together with spreadsheets
A rating tool here, a CRM nobody updates there, and a shared spreadsheet holding it all together. Watching an agency untangle this, live, is exactly the kind of thing we want on tape.
3. Nobody can say what the renewal rate actually is
If we ask for last quarter's retention number and get a shrug, that tells us reporting is a bigger problem than sales, and a real thread worth following.
4. The team is busy, but the pipeline is empty
Busy and productive aren't the same thing. We look for agencies where the day-to-day is consuming all the time that should go toward new business.
5. There's a plan. It's just never been written down
Most owners we talk to already know what's wrong. What they're missing is the structure to actually work through it, and someone willing to show that process honestly, including the parts that don't go as planned.
If any of this sounds familiar, that's exactly why we built the nomination form on the homepage. Tell us where things stand. We'll take it from there.
